Settings
Configure SoftSDC settings, including card reader selection, refresh rate, logging, API port, timeouts, language, theme and advanced options.
Settings let you adapt SoftSDC to your device and the way you work.
The options you see depend on your platform and version.
Card reader
If more than one card reader is connected, choose which one SoftSDC uses.
SoftSDC detects most standard readers. If yours is missing, check the connection and the drivers. See card reader is not detected.
Refresh rate
Sets how often SoftSDC checks for status changes.
| Option | Interval | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Fast | 1 to 2 seconds | Busy points of sale that need instant status |
| Normal (recommended) | 5 seconds | Most setups |
| Slow | 10 seconds or more | Low-power devices |
A faster rate shows changes sooner, such as a card being inserted. It also uses more battery and system resources.
Logging
SoftSDC logs every error in order, with the local date and time to the minute.
| Level | What it records |
|---|---|
| Error only | Critical errors |
| Warning | Warnings and errors |
| Info (recommended) | General operation |
| Debug | Detailed diagnostics |
| Verbose | Everything, for deep troubleshooting |
Debug and Verbose create large log files. Use them only while you troubleshoot a specific problem.
You can also set the log location, how many days to keep logs (7 to 90), the maximum size before rotation (10 MB to 1 GB), and automatic cleanup.
Network
API port
The port where SoftSDC listens for POS requests.
- Default:
8431 - Allowed range: 1024 to 65535
- Pick a port no other app uses
After you change the port, restart the service and update the port in your POS.
Your POS uses this port in the API base URL.
Timeouts
You can set timeouts for API requests, Tax Authority communication and NTP time sync.
Display
- Language. Usually your local language and English, depending on your license and region. The change applies after you restart the app.
- Theme. Light, dark, or match the system.
- Date and time format. Day, month and year order, 12 or 24-hour time, and time zone display.
Advanced settings
Change advanced settings only if you know what you are doing, or when support asks you to. Wrong values can stop SoftSDC working.
| Group | Options |
|---|---|
| Performance | Memory cache size, background worker threads, database connection pool |
| Security | Auto-lock timeout before PIN re-entry, session timeout, certificate validation strictness |
| Data | Auto-archive, archive age, backup location, backup schedule |
Export and import settings
Export: go to Settings > Advanced > Export, choose the settings to export and a safe location. You can protect the file with a password.
Import: go to Settings > Advanced > Import, choose the file, enter the password if there is one, review the settings and apply. Restart if asked.
Settings files can contain sensitive data. Store them safely and do not send them over insecure channels.
Reset to defaults
Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset, choose what to reset (or everything) and confirm. SoftSDC restarts with default settings.
Resetting does not affect your license or stored invoices. You will need to set your preferences again.
