Android requirements
Requirements for SoftSDC on Android phones and tablets, including USB OTG, app permissions, background running and storage for offline work.
SoftSDC turns an Android phone or tablet into a mobile fiscal device. This suits businesses that issue invoices on site or sell on the move.
This page covers Android only. For what every installation needs, such as the smart card and firewall rules, see system requirements.
Minimum requirements
| Item | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Android 9.0 (API 28) or newer |
| Memory | 2 GB RAM |
| Storage | About 100 MB for the app, plus space for data |
| USB | USB On-The-Go (OTG) support |
| Adapter | USB OTG cable (micro-USB or USB-C to standard USB) |
| Network | Wi-Fi or mobile data for activation |
What is USB OTG?
USB OTG lets your phone or tablet use USB devices such as smart card readers. You connect the reader through an OTG adapter that turns the charging port into a standard USB port. Not every Android device supports OTG, so check before you buy a reader.
Recommended
| Item | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Android 10 or newer, for better USB handling and background services |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM or more |
| Storage | 500 MB free for invoice history and logs |
| Network | A stable connection for regular syncing |
Permissions
SoftSDC asks for these permissions. It asks only when you first use the related feature, and explains why.
| Permission | Why SoftSDC needs it |
|---|---|
| Internet | License checks and time sync |
| USB device access | Talking to the smart card reader |
| Run in background | Keeping the API available while you use other apps |
| Notifications | Telling you about invoices, connection problems and other events |
First reader connection
The first time you connect a card reader, Android asks for permission. Select OK or Grant permission. You do this once for each new USB device.
Running in the background
The SoftSDC background service keeps the API available for your POS, processes invoices while the app is minimized and keeps syncing with the Tax Authority.
For long sessions, keep the device on a charger so power saving does not interrupt SoftSDC. Also exclude SoftSDC from battery optimization.
Storage for offline work
For each day offline, SoftSDC needs about:
| Invoices per day | Space per day |
|---|---|
| 10 | 2 MB |
| 100 | 20 MB |
| 1,000 | 200 MB |
Problems on Android are covered in troubleshooting.
When your device is ready, follow the installation guide.
Windows requirements
Hardware, software and permission requirements for SoftSDC on Windows 10 and 11, plus firewall, background service and antivirus guidance.
Installation
Download and install SoftSDC on Windows or Android, set up your smart card reader and firewall, and check that the service and API are running.
